Who We Are
CCTC is a nonprofit 501 ( c ) 3 organization in Woodbridge, VA. We provide computer training and technical support to our local and surrounding community. In the past, we have offered computer courses to seniors, homeschoolers, novice and experienced users. We also offered our youth program on technology, leadership development, and financial literacy to teens.
We are now focusing on educating parents on how to use technology. We recognize a problem in our community that the children are expose and more knowledgeable about technology more than their parents, and therefore the kids are left vulnerable to cyberbullying attack, and being exploited.
“The solution is going to be educating the parents. They must be educated about the problem, the apps, the devices, the software, and how kids are using social media.
We want to train parents how to place security, filters and use firewall to protect their children from these predators. Because of fast-changing tech it puts parents at disadvantage in protecting kids online.
Technology has played a big role in changing the way our children learn, get entertained, how they interact with friends, it has impacted their level of creativeness, and how they behave in society. Today’s children use more technology. Technology has both positive and negative impacts on our children. As much as technology has changed the way our kids learn or entertain themselves, it the role as parents to guide them on how to use this technology and set limits on when to use specific technological tools.
